It’s been a week since our munch restaurant food delivery app has launched in Oshawa, and what a week it has been! We’ve had a blast connecting with your favourite local restaurants, talking to our new drivers who are all set to start delivering your meals and most of all, we’ve had a great time connecting with you on social media, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Good, now with that out of the way, we want to tell you why we’re excited to launch in Oshawa.
More delicious and healthy food to more people…
Did you know the reason we launched the app? Alistair Varley, the innovate mind behind munch says it best: “I was inspired by a colleague who said he wished that he could order nutritious food from his favourite local restaurants and have it delivered conveniently to his home.” That’s right, we want people to think outside the same old take-out box and order in fresh food, like veggie and flavour packed roti from Coconut Cove and flavourful curries from Oshawa Thai.
…And still satisfying that craving for pizza, burgers and poutine
Let’s be realistic, sometimes a burger, poutine and pizza is what you really want instead of salad and smoothies. We get it. So that’s why we have Buster Rhino’s, McCoy Burger, Henry’s Pizza and Felicio’s Cakes on the app. In the eternally wise words of Homer Simpson, ‘you don’t win friends with salad’.
To be part of Oshawa’s booming restaurant scene
Earlier this year DurhamRegion.com named downtown Oshawa and the restaurant scene the newsmaker of the year. Who wouldn’t want to be part of a revival that sees businesses booming? “We are very much community-focused,” says Alistair, noting that small, independent restaurants will benefit the most from the launch of munch. And because getting on our app it is free for them, restaurants in the downtown open up the opportunity to reach new customers or better service their existing diners. Restaurants are welcome to join munch.™ at any time, just download the app and sign up!
We get to help more non-profits
At munch, one of the things that makes us the happiest (besides from getting great food to great people) is the opportunity to help out the communities that we work, live and play in. We do that through a program called Giving Back which is open to any non-profit. Participating is easy: download the app, register your non-profit, and from every order you or a member of your non-profit place via the app, munch will donate back a portion of our profit. Easy, right? It’s a win-win for everyone…you earn money for your group, we feel good about giving back.
Now we have two awesome hockey teams to cheer for
It’s no secret we have a place in our hearts for the Peterborough Petes (Go Petes Go!), but now that we’re in Oshawa, we get to cheer for the Oshawa Generals too! Now, of course, we’re not sure who we will cheer for when the two teams play head-to-head. It will probably be both teams, so you may not want to sit next to us during a game, it could get loud.
